SHOW NOTES

FROM THE PASTOR’S INBOX

Shouldn’t the church be telling people how to vote?
Derek addresses whether the church should guide people on how to vote and explores the tension between faith and politics:

  • Politics has been injected into every part of our lives. Christians should be aware of the potential danger when politics becomes a religion and overshadows the gospel.
  • We must love our enemies and not let contempt, born of anger and disgust, take over. Jesus called us to a higher standard in how we relate to each other.
  • The church’s job isn’t to take political sides but to declare allegiance to Jesus. Our citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20).
  • We should use our faith filter before our political filter and focus on uniting diverse communities under Christ’s love rather than political parties.

REINVENTING CHURCH TOPIC

Redefining What It Means to Be “Called to Ministry”
Derek and guest Andrea Bierer discuss how being “called to ministry” can happen outside the walls of the church, drawing from Andrea and Doug’s story:

  • Andrea shares her journey of moving from traditional church ministry into the business world and how they have seen God at work through their construction company.
  • They discuss how the idea of being called to ministry extends beyond leading small groups or serving inside the church—into workplaces and everyday life.
  • Andrea reflects on the vision-building process with Clarity House and how the Grace Church team has learned to partner with people like her and Doug who are living out their calling outside the walls of the church.

WHAT HAPPENED THIS WEEK?

The Rise and Fall of Vision Sunday
Derek and Danielle reflect on their recent Vision Sunday, which had both successes and challenges:

  • Overwhelming sign-ups for the “Launch” program showed enthusiasm but created a logistical challenge behind the scenes.
  • A few technical difficulties (like video not playing) highlighted the need for adaptability and teamwork.
