SHOW NOTES

FROM THE PASTOR’S INBOX

Why is the volume of the worship music so loud?

One attendee expressed concern that the worship team was focusing more on performance and volume than fostering an intimate worship atmosphere.

  • Safety: Music during services generally stays within the 85-90 decibel range, which is within safe levels for short periods, but we recognize that personal sensitivities vary.
  • Personal preference: Not everyone likes loud music, and preferences vary. Some people want to hear the congregation, others prefer not to hear themselves sing. We aim to strike a balance and encourage participation rather than performance.
  • Biblical perspective: The Bible often encourages loud celebration in worship (e.g., Psalm 33:3, Psalm 150:3–6). The idea that soft music is more spiritual than loud music is unfounded.

How to Know if God Has Released You to Move On to Something New

Featuring guest Stephen Hay, we discuss discerning when God may be calling you to a new season or ministry.

  • Personal Reflection: Are you spiritually healthy and able to hear from God clearly? What strengths and weaknesses do you need to consider?
  • Congregational Trust: Does the congregation trust you to lead, and do you have the skills for the current or next phase of ministry?
  • Church Assessment: Assess the strengths, weaknesses, and needs of the church. Sometimes, a change in leadership is required for the next season of the church’s journey.
