Lead Pastor Evaluation

Evaluation for ministry leaders is very important. Many pastors do annual “performance reviews” with their key staff and leaders. But who is evaluating the Pastor? The Lead Pastor Evaluation document is what we’ve used for the past couple of years for me specifically with the elders. It’s a series of more open-ended questions that are meant to act as conversation starters. I come into the review prepared with answers to these questions and then we discuss for about 3 hours, and they give feedback and pushback. I think an open-ended Q&A approach is more appropriate during seasons of health and trust in the church while it’s probably more valuable to have a stricter ranking system during seasons of struggle.
